I found myself thinking about something this last week, that thing is ‘colour’ , or ‘color’ for my friends from the States. Looking at some artists’ work, including the work posted on my blog recently by Ro Alahendra, I have realised that I might actually be scared of using colour. Ok, maybe not scared, but just reluctant. Not because I don’t want to use colour, just because I simply don’t. In a lot of ways I like to think of myself as a 3 colour artist…meaning that I like to do paintings with only 3 major colours in them…red, black, and white are some of my favourites.
I also tend to do art that is closely related to reality. For example when I do a landscape I use colours that would make it seem realistic (it might not be the actual colour as reality…but the overall effect will give that sense). I do however find it hard to grab my paintbrush and paint a tree orange, or paint a person’s face yellow, green, and blue.
So here is the challenge to myself for at least one of my upcoming projects…COLOUR, lots of colour!!
Here is my progress on regarding this challenge…
Let me know if any of you also find using lots of colour difficult at times, or if you are great at colour give us some tips on how to get more confident.
